JULY Works Notice

Please note that these are subject to change due to weather and/or operational impacts. 
Works are continuing for The Children's Hospital at Westmead Stage 2 Redevelopment, which includes the new Paediatric Services Building, a new multi-storey car park, refurbishment of some existing areas and a revitalised forecourt:
  • Civil, structural and services works are continuing on the Paediatric Services Building and multi-storey car park site including water main installation (Hawkesbury Road), concrete pours and jumpform erection surrounding the cores on the Paediatric Services Building site.
  • Civil and services works, including demolition works, is underway for the new forecourt called ‘KidsPark’. 
  • Work commencing within the existing hospital for refurbishments (Staff dining space,Clinical Research Centre and Pathology Collection; and Kids Pathology).
  • Works for the Viral Vector Manufacturing Facility (VVMF) Stage 2 including scaffold installation, investigation works and demolition within and around the Kid’s Research building . Construction works are continuing within the Innovation Centre.
In addition, night work for water main installation on Hawkesbury Road is scheduled for Wednesday 12 July 2023 from 9pm to 4am (weather permitting) with surrounding stakeholders to be notified.

Pedestrian and traffic changes
Over the coming months, you may notice increased construction vehicles within Kid’s Research Lane as we begin construction for VVMF.
 
There will be temporary road changes for water main installation on Hawkesbury Road.
 
As always, please follow direction of signage and site staff for your safety. There may be some changes to traffic conditions while work is taking place including intermittent stoppages and lane closures. 

Motorists are reminded to slow down to 20km/h while travelling along Redbank Road. 
 
Our work hours
This work will occur during standard construction hours (Monday to Friday from 7am to 6pm, Saturdays 8am to 5pm). We will provide further notification of any work that is required to take place outside of these hours.

How we will manage works
For your safety, please stay on marked paths, and follow the signs or any directions from site staff during construction. 

Noise, dust and vibration will be closely monitored. This includes mitigation measures such as:
  • A class hoarding
  • Programming noisy works to occur during the day
  • Noise and vibration monitors
  • Water trucks to manage dust
  • Noise blankets
In addition, excavation works on the new Paediatric Services Building site is continuing. 
 
A specialist remediation contractor has been engaged to safely undertake the removal work in accordance with the requirements of SafeWork NSW and the NSW Environment Protection Authority.
 
A temporary stockpile site has been established near Mons Road for this work. A number of control measures are in place to ensure the safety of staff, patients, visitors and our workers. This includes our workers wearing protective clothing and suits, use of geofabric (orange or white material on site), wetting down areas and air monitoring.
