Pedestrian and traffic changes
Over the coming months, you may notice increased construction vehicles within Kid’s Research Lane due to works being carried out in the area.

From late August, pedestrian access within Kid’s Research Lane and Research Road will be closed while work is being carried out in this area.

Staff who travel through this area to access Hawkesbury Road and staff car parks will need to use an alternative route.

Access will remain open between CHW and KR via Level 2, and to the KR loading dock and plant rooms.

For the safety of bicycle users, access to the bike cage and Chinese Gardens via Research Road will be closed until several key construction projects are complete. The CHW bike cage will remain open and accessible, however we ask bike users to enter via the rear of the hospital and walk through the Genetics Corridor, or alternatively enter from the main entrance.

As always, please follow direction of signage and site staff for your safety. There may be some changes to traffic conditions while work is taking place including intermittent stoppages and lane closures.

Motorists are reminded to slow down to 20km/h while travelling along Redbank Road.

Our work hours
This work will occur during standard construction hours (Monday to Friday from 7am to 6pm, Saturdays 8am to 5pm). We will provide further notification of any work that is required to take place outside of these hours.

How we will manage works
For your safety, please stay on marked paths, and follow the signs or any directions from site staff during construction.
Noise, dust and vibration will be closely monitored. This includes mitigation measures such as:
  • A class hoarding
  • Programming noisy works to occur during the day
  • Noise and vibration monitors
  • Water trucks to manage dust
  • Noise blankets
