Services and landscaping installation works are progressing for the canopy, retail pod and playground for the revitalised forecourt called ‘KidsPark.’

(Galleria stairs, airlocks, Clinical Research Centre and Pathology Collection, Gait Lab and Kids Pathology). In addition, works for the level 3 linkway corridor widening have progressed.
Works for the Viral Vector Manufacturing Facility (VVMF) Stage 2 including scaffold and structural steel installation within and around the Kids Research (KR) building. Construction works are continuing within the Innovation Centre.
In addition, a new roundabout at the intersection of Labyrinth Way and Redbank Road is being constructed.
Pedestrian and traffic changes
As always, please follow direction of signage and site staff for your safety. There are some changes to traffic conditions while work is taking place including intermittent stoppages and lane closures.
On Saturday 11 May 2024, Labyrinth Way will be closed from 8am to 5pm and detours will be in place with access via Paringa Avenue. Access can be made to Cumberland Hospital via Fleet Street. Pedestrian access will be maintained.
You may notice increased construction vehicles within Kid’s Research Lane due to works being carried out in the area.
Pedestrian access within Kids Research Lane and Research Road is closed while work is being carried out in this area. Please see
map
for alternative route.
Staff who travel through this area to access Hawkesbury Road and staff car parks will need to use an alternative route.
Access will remain open between CHW and KR via Level 2, and to the KR loading dock and plant rooms.
The CHW bike cage will remain open and accessible. For the safety of bicycle users, entry is via the rear of the hospital and walk through the Genetics Corridor, or alternatively enter from the main entrance. Access to the CHW bike cage and Chinese Gardens via Research Road will be closed until several key construction projects are complete.
Motorists are reminded to slow down to 20km/h while travelling along Redbank Road.
Our work hours
This work will occur during standard construction hours (Monday to Friday from 7am to 6pm, Saturdays 8am to 5pm). We will provide further notification of any work that is required to take place outside of these hours.
How we will manage works
