March Works Notice
SHARE

Please note that these are subject to change due to weather and/or operational impacts.
Early works are continuing for The Children's Hospital at Westmead Stage 2 Redevelopment, which includes the new Paediatric Services Building, a new Multi-storey Car Park, refurbishment of some existing areas and an improved main entry forecourt.

This work is being carried out at the back of the hospital and includes activities to prepare the site for main works construction such as installing temporary fencing, concrete barriers, earthworks, building foundations for the new building, retaining wall demolition, utility investigation and relocation work.

Demolition work is currently taking place to prepare the site for the new Multi-storey Car Park. The old Lodge (Old Ronald McDonald House) has been taken down. This work is being carried out by a specialised, experienced licensed contractor under proper supervision.

Pedestrian and traffic changes
Temporary pedestrian and traffic changes will be in place while this work takes place. From 3 March until June, the bike and pedestrian path from Redbank Road to Kid’s Research Lane will be closed due to early works for the new Paediatric Services Building.  Please see map for alternative routes.

In the coming weeks, work on realigning Redbank Road to improve access to the hospital will begin. We will keep you updated of any upcoming changes before this work commences.

How we will manage works
This work will occur during standard construction hours (Monday to Friday from 7am to 6pm, Saturdays 8am to 1pm). We will provide further notification of any work that is required to take place outside of these hours.

For your safety, please stay on marked paths, and follow the signs or any directions from site staff during construction.
Noise, dust and vibration will be closely monitored. This includes mitigation measures such as:
  • Programming noisy works to occur during the day
  • Noise and vibration monitors
  • Water trucks to manage dust
For more information on what’s happening around the construction site, you can visit our map

We thank you for your patience while this project is underway.
